Cutting

Melt and vaporize sheet metal

Laser cutting directs focused, high-intensity laser light to melt or vaporize sheet metal and other materials. Assist gasses typically blow molten material away from a cutting zone. The resultant cut can leave a consistent, high surface quality that normally does not require additional finishing prior to use. Increasingly, lasers cut sheet metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, and brass, for manufacturing automobiles, aircraft, and commercial and consumer appliances. This is due to higher cutting speeds, improved cutting quality, lower cost of ownership, and substantially lower energy use when compared to traditional cutting approaches.
