Lumentum’s A6 series continuous-wave (CW) laser delivers a stable, narrow-linewidth light source for silicon photonics (SiPh) transceivers. Built on the same DFB core and buried heterostructure foundation as Lumentum’s EML products, the A6 series brings EML-class reliability to CW light sources. Using conventional gratings and facet coatings proven in high-volume production, the A6 series offers exceptional wavelength stability, low relative intensity noise (RIN), and dependable lifetime performance for hyperscale deployments. The design supports uncooled operation and includes an optional semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) for scalable output power. With output exceeding 70 mW and GR-468-qualified reliability, the A6 series CW laser provides the efficiency, thermal stability, and optical performance required for 400G DR4, 800G DR8, and next-generation SiPh-based interconnects in large-scale AI and cloud data centers.
