Lumentum’s A8 series continuous-wave (CW) laser delivers a stable, narrow-linewidth light source for silicon photonics (SiPh) transceivers and co-packaged optics (CPO) applications. Built on the same DFB core and buried heterostructure foundation as Lumentum’s EML and A6 series CW products, the A8 series brings EML-class reliability to CW light sources. Operating at CWDM4 wavelengths of 1271, 1291, 1311, and 1331 nm, it provides >100 mW optical output at 1311 nm and >70 mW across the grid. Using conventional gratings and facet coatings proven in high-volume manufacturing, the A8 series delivers tight wavelength stability, low RIN, and consistent optical performance. Supporting uncooled operation and optional SOA integration for higher power, the A8 series CW laser provides the scalability, efficiency, and reliability required for hyperscale data centers.
