In the data center back end, where massive AI clusters interconnect across racks, networks must deliver exceptional scalability, agility, and energy efficiency. Traditional packet-switched fabrics introduce latency and power constraints that limit overall system performance. Lumentum addresses these challenges with a portfolio of optical solutions, including Optical Circuit Switching (OCS) platforms, pluggable transceiver modules powered by EML and CW lasers, and UHP laser–based External Laser Source (ELSFP) modules for co-packaged optics (CPO) architectures. Our OCS products, built on proprietary MEMS technology, create dynamic, reconfigurable optical paths between thousands of nodes, reducing latency and power consumption significantly.
