Precision, efficiency, and cost reduction for the next-generation, high-performance batteries
While lithium-ion batteries have established a place in e-mobility, the race to develop solid-state batteries or silicon anodes with higher energy density is accelerating. Batteries are expensive and must last a very long time and charge quickly for consumers to be willing to adopt electric vehicles as mainstream. Using Lumentum lasers in this process can decrease costs and create cells with high energy and power density.
With substantial increases in e-mobility, including electric vehicles and energy storage systems, it is important to develop cheaper and more sustainable batteries.
As lithium-ion and solid-state battery production continues, our lasers solve the problems these manufacturers run into and cover many of the touchpoints involved in battery cell manufacturing including electrode cutting, laser patterning, ablation, notching, slitting, and surface structuring.
